Facial Gua Sha

Gua Sha is an ancient Chinese self-massage technique that taps into the body’s healing systems. Facial Gua Sha works with the circulatory and lymphatic systems of the body. The aim is to clear the body of any stagnation and heat, enabling free flow circulation to boost the skin’s health.

First comes the RELEASE….

Facial Gua Sha can be very powerful as it triggers releases within the skin, and the meridians (energy pathways) that run throughout the body. From an aesthetic perspective it can undo adhesions within the skin, which can release tension in the facial muscles and with that, any emotions that are being held within that area of the face. This is why you will look lighter and you will also feel the lightness within yourself.

Then the LIFT, PLUMP and GLOW

The treatment will leave you transformed both in the way that you look and feel. This is because the crystals act as a magic tools to reach deep and release blockages. The treatment can open up the face, contouring to enhance your natural features. The facial can cause some ‘Sha’ which is the redness caused by the boost in the skin’s micro-circulation. This is temporary and a positive sign that you have got your natural glow.

The wonder of Facial Cupping…

You may not have heard of Facial Cupping but it is growing in popularity, and is rooted in ancient Eastern healing traditions. We have 43 muscles in our face but, unlike other parts of the body, we tend to neglect them. An effective Facial Cupping routine relaxes and tones the muscles in your face, as well as improving the blood flow. It also boosts collagen production and stimulates your lymphatic system.

Much in the same way your skin glows after a good workout, Facial Cupping works on the simple principle of improving blood circulation. The real beauty of using a technique such as Facial Cupping is that it is safe and affordable - healthy, glowing skin really is achievable without the need for needles and extortionate skincare.

How does Facial Cupping work?

When a Facial Cup is squeezed onto an area of your face, a gentle suction is created. This draws blood flow towards the surface of your skin. The increased blood flow in the skin underneath the cup and surrounding tissues encourages the formation of new blood vessels.

The suction also creates a mini-trauma in the skin (in the same way as micro-needling and derma-rollers would), which prompts a natural healing process in the skin. More oxygenated blood flows to the area, collagen and fibroblast production is stimulated, and the skin cells are encouraged to reproduce.

The result is skin that feels and looks more plump, healthy and glowing.

Here is what my Facial Cupping clients have said following their first treatment:

“My skin felt softer and definitely felt less tension in my face and generally felt really relaxed after the treatment”

- Louise

“My face felt firmer and more “awake”. I loved the feeling of firming I had after the facial and felt I could see a difference. My face looked more open and awake. Hence why am booking back in. I also think you have a very nurturing touch to your facial”

- Theresa

“I really enjoyed it. I'd say for anyone like me a little apprehensive about pressure or potential bruising, that there was nothing at all to be worried about! It felt super relaxing, and with the cleanse and oil like a cross between a mini facial and a massage

My skin felt so glowy and soft for hours, got a little puffy later in the day but I've woken up feeling very hydrated and refreshed”

- Laura

  Facial Cupping and Chinese Medicine

Facial Cupping is more than just a cosmetic treatment. Not only does it relax any tension we have in our face, it also improves physical imbalances that manifest on our face and helps to release stuck emotions.

This is why the comments mention not only how the skin looked after the treatment but also how relaxed and well they felt in themselves.

Our organs map onto our face

From a Chinese Medicine perspective, all our organs manifest on our face. This means that any imbalance you have in your body can show on your face. Dark circles under the eyes can be a sign of imbalances in the kidneys. Breakouts on your chin can be a sign of raging hormones, and dryness on your cheeks could be a sign of digestion issues. Facial Cupping moves stagnant energy that can cause skin imbalances. When you do Facial Cupping under your eyes, you indirectly move the stagnant Qi, or energy, in the kidney area.

Facial Cupping can really help you to tackle the root of any skin issue you might have.

Each organ is connected to an emotion

In Chinese Medicine, the stomach is connected with worry, and the heart is connected with joy.

Emotions create expressions. Wrinkles are the result of repetitive expression. Wrinkles are fascinating. They show the world who we are, and the life we have lived. Contrary to what you may think, wrinkles aren’t static - they can come and go.

Have you noticed that when you’re stressed, you develop two lines between your eyebrows? Have you also noticed that these lines can disappear when you’re on holiday or simple more relaxed? These lines are in the liver area fo the face. The emotions connected to the liver are impatience and irritability which is why we frown when we feel annoyed.

When I perform Facial Cupping between the eyebrows, which is in the liver area, you’ll instantly feel more peaceful and less irritable, as it moves the energy of the liver, which is the anger, impatience and frustration.

And that is why Facial Cupping is more than just a cosmetic treatment. It will make your skin look brighter, more toned and youthful, but it will also relax any tension you hold in your face, improve physical imbalances and release stuck emotions you hold within yourself.
